David Albert Mize, 68, of Elizabethtown, died at 6:42 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Columbus Regional Hospital. David was born on April 4, 1958, the son of Jerome Hugh Mize and Roberta Jean (Beasley) Mize.

David proudly served his country in the Navy as a Machinist’s Mate Second Class (MM2). He enjoyed the things that made him happy, from playing all kinds of video games to getting out in his Bronco and going mudding. He was a big Indianapolis Colts fan and rarely missed a chance to cheer them on. David also enjoyed playing darts and took pride in the many trophies he won over the years.

Most of all, David loved his family. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was the person you could call when you needed help, and he would always do his best to be there. He never hesitated to help someone and was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was one of a kind and will never be forgotten.
David is survived by his daughters, Danie’l and Kori Mize; sister, Virginia Mize; grandchildren, Courtney Faulkner and David “AJ” Mize; great-grandchildren, Kamrynn, William, Aero, and Leviticus; and his beloved cat, Putty Tat.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Jean Mize; sons, Kraig and David Mize; and brother, Tom Mize.

In keeping with David’s wishes, cremation was chosen. His family will honor his memory and carry the love and memories they shared with him in their hearts.

Services were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service and Crematory.

  1. Dave called in sick one day and slid across the parking lot in front of his boss going to pick up his paycheck. He got skinned up and told his boss he wouldn’t be at work the next day.
