Charlotte Jean Condon

Charlotte Jean Condon, known to many simply as Charlotte, passed away on August 16, 2026, in Columbus, Indiana, at the age of 90. Born on March 26, 1936, in Columbus, Indiana, she lived a life marked by quiet devotion, steadfast faith, and a generous spirit that touched the lives of many.
Charlotte was the beloved wife of Robert B. Condon, and they were married on January 18, 1958. Together, they shared a long and devoted marriage built on love, respect, and family. She was a loving mother to Debbie Drysdale, Doug Condon and his wife Diane, Donna Condon, and Cindy House and her husband Duane. Charlotte also cherished her role as a grandmother to Leah (Adam) Brouse, Greg Drysdale, Brandy (Erik) Marmolejo, Sarah (Michael) Morrow, Courtney Condon, and Jarod Buchta. She was blessed with great-grandchildren Xavier Drysdale, Kambry Drysdale, Claire Brouse, Noah Brouse, Makayla Morrow, Jalen Simmons, Zoe Marmolejo, Leo Marmolejo, and Oliver Duran, each of whom brought her great joy. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Hoffar, and her sister-in-law, Linda Martin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Winnie Martin, and by her brothers Broten Martin, Paul Martin, and Dick Martin, as well as her sisters Stella Martin and Ruth Vail. Charlotte carried the memory of her family close to her heart throughout her life, and she remained deeply connected to those she loved.
Charlotte graduated from Columbus High School in 1954 and later worked as a private secretary at Cummins Engine Company. She approached her work with diligence and grace, earning the respect of those around her. Her professional life reflected the same dependable and thoughtful nature that defined her in every part of her life.
Faith was central to Charlotte’s life, and she was a very active and faithful member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. She served in many capacities over the years, including taking communion to the sick and shut-ins, a ministry that reflected her compassion and her desire to care for others. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and gave of herself freely wherever she was needed. Charlotte could never say no to anything asked of her, and her selfless, gentle, and generous nature made her a blessing to family, friends, and her church community alike.
She lived her life with quiet strength and a loving heart, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her presence brought comfort and warmth, and her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched through her faith, her family, and her example of service. Charlotte Jean Condon will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a beautiful reflection of devotion, grace, and love, and her memory will remain a lasting source of comfort to those she leaves behind.
Services for Charlotte will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2026 in Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service and Crematory with Father Clem Davis officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.
