Christopher Alan Lyons

Christopher Alan Lyons, 65, of Columbus, passed away Friday, August 21, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis. Alan was born in Flatwoods, KY on February 7, 1961 to Paul Lyons and Dorothy Daniels Lyons.

Alan lived a life marked by warmth, humor, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that made each day meaningful. In his younger years, he was known as the life of the party, bringing energy, laughter, and a memorable spirit to every gathering. Those who knew him best will remember his easy smile, his quick wit, and the way he could make others feel welcome and at ease.

Throughout his life, Alan found happiness in the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish, and these interests gave him both peace and purpose. Whether he was spending time in the quiet of nature or sharing stories about his experiences, he valued the patience, skill, and appreciation for the world around him that those pursuits inspired. He also enjoyed watching movies and westerns, often finding comfort in familiar stories and timeless characters.

Above all else, Alan cherished time with his grandchildren. He loved being with them, and his face would light up in their presence. He took great joy in their company and treasured the laughter, conversation, and memories they shared. His grandchildren were a source of pride and happiness in his life, and the bond he had with them was one of the most meaningful parts of his journey. He will be remembered not only for what he enjoyed, but for the love and attention he gave so freely to those around him.

In keeping with Alan’s request, there will be no services, cremation is planned.

Survivors include his children, Jamie Sparks and Tera (Jason) Knapp both of Columbus, IN; a brother, Rodney Lyons of KY; sisters, Teresa (Tom) Cox of Columbus, IN, Linda Lyons of No. Vernon, IN and Mollie (Alan) Sirvent of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Kelsie (Shane) Neafus, Chance Knapp and Morgan Knapp; 4 great grandchildren also survive.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy Lyons; brother, Robert Lyons; a great niece, Athena Lyons.
