Phyllis Booher, 87, of Nashville, Indiana, passed away on August 23, 2026, in Nashville, Indiana. She was born on January 30, 1939, in Bicknell, Indiana, to Grant and Dora Mae Simpson.
Phyllis lived a life marked by love, generosity, and devotion to her family and community. She was a proud graduate of Bicknell High School and carried the values of hard work, kindness, and perseverance throughout her life. Those who knew her will remember her warm spirit, her steady presence and the thoughtful way she cared for others. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, her gentle nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She was united in marriage to Lee Booher and together they shared 67 years of marriage filled with companionship, commitment and enduring love. Their life together was a testament to faithfulness and partnership and the bond they built remained strong through every season of life. Lee survives and will continue to cherish the many memories they created together.
Phyllis was a devoted mother to Susan Hall, Timothy Booher and his wife, Linda, Patrick Booher and his wife, Holly, Grant Booher and his wife, Shay, Michael Booher and his wife, Erin. She took great pride in her children and found joy in the family they built. Her love for them was constant and unconditional and she was a source of encouragement, wisdom and comfort throughout their lives. She also treasured her role as a mother-in-law and Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending time with her grandchildren singing and dancing. She also enjoyed sharing time with her precious friends.
In her professional life, Phyllis served with dedication at the Brown County Clerk’s office, where her reliability and gracious manner were appreciated by coworkers and those she assisted. She also valued her connection to the IU Alumni Association, where she shared in the spirit of fellowship and school pride. In every role she held, she demonstrated integrity, responsibility, and a sincere concern for others.
Phyllis will be remembered as a loving and generous woman whose life reflected the best of family, friendship and service. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and all who were touched by her kindness. Though she will be deeply missed, the example she set and the love she gave will remain a lasting comfort to those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Dora Mae Simpson and her daughter, Susan Hall
