In Loving Memory of Maurice “Mo” Allen Tindell, Jr.

February 25, 1942 – September 3, 2026

Maurice “Mo” Allen Tindell, Jr. was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was devoted to his family, his faith, and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with others.

Mo was born to Dorothy Rogers (Dale) and Maurice Tindell, Sr. (Marilyn). He is survived by his wife, Neva, his siblings, Linda Dailey, Diana Mellencamp, Charlie Rogers, and Dallas Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Raymond Rogers, Theresa Rogers, and Sue Allman.

Mo shared 51 beautiful years with his wife and best friend, Neva. Together, they built a loving family whose roots continue to grow through every generation.

He leaves behind his nine children: Lorri Burkhart (David), Tawni Stover (Brian), Dawn Curry (Tracy), Allen Tindell, Leslie Bennett (Doug), Kathy Murdock (Andy), Beverly Curfman (Dwayne), Jennifer Price, and Travis Tindell (Jennifer).

Mo was blessed with 27 grandchildren and 22 glorious great-grandchildren—and counting. His family was his greatest earthly treasure, and the love he poured into them will continue through every generation that follows.

A Life of Faith and Song

Mo’s greatest legacy reaches far beyond his family. His heart was devoted to winning souls to Jesus Christ, and he spent much of his life sharing the Gospel through music.

In 1969, Mo founded the Christian Cavaliers, a gospel singing group, together with his brother Dallas Rogers and Larry Sullivan. In 1972, Neva joined him in this ministry. Through their music, their testimony, and their love for Christ, they touched countless lives and brought the message of Jesus to many who needed hope.

Mo’s singing ministry was not simply something he did—it was a calling that became the focus of his life. Every song he sang and wrote was an expression of his faith and his desire to see others know the love of Christ.

His voice may now be silent here on earth, but the songs he sang, the words he wrote, and the lives he touched will continue to speak.

His Greatest Legacy

Mo’s life was a testimony of faith, family, love, and service. He leaves behind not only cherished memories, but a legacy of faith that lives on in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and in the many souls he helped lead toward Christ.

He passed away peacefully at home on September 3, 2026, surrounded by love, with his family by his side.

Though our hearts are heavy with his absence, we find comfort in knowing that the man who spent his life singing about Jesus has now gone home to be with Him.

Funeral & Visitation

Visitation will be held at Jewell Rittman Funeral Service & Crematory, 3855 25th St., Columbus, IN, on Friday, September 11 from 4-8pm. The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 12 at 11:00am, with visitation from 10:00am – 11:00am.
