Versie Lee Krueger, 68, of Columbus, died at 2:25 a.m. on September 27, 2026 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Versie was born November 19, 1957 in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of John Baker and Rosemary (Bisel) Smith. She married Anthony “Tony” Krueger on September 9, 2009.
Versie was a creative, adventurous, and free-spirited soul who found joy in so many of life’s simple pleasures. She was a talented crafter, painter, and woodworker who loved creating things with her hands. She was an “outside girl” at heart, spending time gardening, tending to her beloved flowers, riding, and enjoying her Harley Davidson. A proud “Jeepster” girl, Versie loved to travel, explore new places, and was always ready to try something new.
She was a devoted grandmother who absolutely cherished her grandchildren and treasured the time she spent with them. She was a loyal Indianapolis Colts and IU basketball fan and enjoyed collecting Cabbage Patch dolls, wind chimes, and Native American and angel trinkets. Versie lived life with curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to embrace every adventure, leaving behind beautiful memories and a little piece of her heart with everyone who knew and loved her.
Versie is survived by her companion, Robert “Bobby” Petro; sisters, Jo (David) Buie and Luanna (Jack) Conner; grandchildren, Shelbie (Greg) Belser, Travis Hendershot, Angel Henderson (Carson); great-grandchildren, Greggie Burton, Gracie Burton, Tempy Hendershot, and Nova Hendershot; and brother-in-law, Jason Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Kruger; daughter, Candida Belser-Hendershot; brothers, David Baker and John Baker; and sister, Eunice “Junie” Miller.
