Alan Ray Thomas, 74, of Franklin, Indiana passed away August 21, 2021, at his home. Alan was born on October 27, 1946 in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Russell and Christina (Duncan) Thomas.
Survivors include, his wife, Brenda; son, Kristopher (Lisa) Thomas of Franklin, Brian (Carrie) Thomas of Franklin; Brother, Larry (RuthAnn) Thomas, of Gulfport, MS; Grandchildren, Kory (Madison) Thomas, Jessica (Nathan) Carie, Kevin Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Weston Thomas; Great-Grandchildren, Lynnox Thomas and Bowyn Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Alan was a 1964 graduate from Columbus High School. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Alan was a member of the Franklin First Assembly of God for many years. He served as a board member there and served in several ministries. Alan worked at Cummins for 40 years. After retiring from Cummins he worked as a barber and at Franklin Middle School. He was very proud to have served his country in the United States Army. He loved to sing, travel, fish, golf and spend time with his family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project through the funeral home.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2021 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Curtis officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 26, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to service time on Friday.
Military rites will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard at Garland Brook Cemetery.
