Albert "Gene" Kruchten

FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Galligar officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Alzheimer's Association. Albert E. "Gene" Kruchten, 86, of Columbus, Indiana passed away at 12:20 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mr. Kruchten was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Bedford, Indiana, the son of Albert F. and Esther (Newland) Kruchten. Gene married Gloria A. Jackson on Oct. 11, 1953. Gene graduated from Bedford High School and served in the Indiana National Guard and the United States Navy. He retired from Lewellen Manufacturing. Gene enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and swinging on his front porch swing with his Gloria. Survivors include his wife, Gloria; children, Cheryl (Dan) Pack of Newburgh, Marc (Stacy) Kruchten of Columbus and Karen (Richard) Clark of Columbus; grandchildren, Ian and Amy Pack, Jacob and Kristen Clark and Adam and Aaron Kruchten. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Malcolm "Mike" Kruchten.
