Alexa Alene Hicks, 34, Alexandria, formerly of Columbus, passed away November 29, 2025. Alexa was born in Lubbock, Texas, on May 29, 1991, to the late Clint Hicks and Kimberly Bradley-Gilley, who survives. Alexa graduated from Columbus North High School in 2009 and attended IUPUC. She relocated to Alexandria a few years ago to start fresh and pursue a new career. She was most recently employed at Elsa in Elwood. Alexa was an active member at Freedom House Church in Anderson, where she also volunteered in various endeavors. An adventurous and good cook, she always enjoyed learning new recipes from the latest cookbooks. She was an excellent student throughout her years and a voracious reader. Alexa’s life became complete when her son, Eli, was born. He was her world, and she was a loving and supportive mom. Alexa will be remembered for her outgoing personality and generous, helpful spirit. Survivors include her mother, Kimberly Bradley-Gilley; her son, Eli Shafer, and his father, Jordan; and her brother, Adam Stephenson. Alexa’s Life Celebration® Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at the Jewell–Rittman Family Funeral Home, 3855 25th Street, Columbus. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, December 8, 2025, with the funeral service following at 7 p.m. Cremation rites will follow and have been entrusted to the Jewell–Rittman Cremation Center on Marr Road in Columbus.   1. I only knew her the last 6-7 months at Elsa. She was my bender partner and very quickly matched my energy. She always had a positive outlook towards her future. Her son, Eli, was the light of her life. Her face would shine so bright when she mentioned him. It brought her so much joy when she talked about family. With the short time I knew her and the impact she had in my heart, I cant imagine the impact she had with family and friends. She was such a blessing and had a selfless heart of gold. I am so very sorry for you loss.

  4. I will always remember Alexa for the big heart and mindfulness of others. Her and her mom let me and my oldest son move in when he was just a small baby and we were in a bad situation. Neither of them hesitated to open their door for us. Alexa you will be missed by many but your memory will forever be alive. Rest easy!
