Alick Patton Jr. February 14, 1944 - November 28, 2008 Alick Patton, Jr., 64, of Poplar Drive, Columbus, Indiana, died Friday, November, 28, 2008, at 8:41 p.m. at Columbus Regional Hospital. Alick was employed by Cummins Engine Company for 31 years. While employed by Cummins Alick completed a 4-year degree in the Apprenticeship Program to become a Journeyman. He retired from Cummins in 1995. He worked for RTW through CMEP where he worked for 3 years. After retirement Alick worked at Greenbelt Golf Course for 16 years where he also was President of the Mens Club. He loved the social life at The Belt and looked forward to working there for many more years. Alick attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a member of the Moose Lodge. Alick loved golf, baseball, football and especially Kentucky basketball. He had a great sense of humor and was also a great karaoke singer. He lived for his wife, his children and his grandchildren. He also loved his two great-grandchildren. Mr. Patton was born February 14, 1944, at Manton, Kentucky, the son of Elick and Bessie Layne Patton. He married Glenda J. Carroll January 18, 1963. Survivors include his wife, Glenda J. Carroll Patton; a son, Alex Shawn Patton of Columbus, Indiana; daughters, Carlyn S. (Mike) Cox of Columbus, Indiana; Kimberly J. (Scott) Malsom of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Jodie R. Coomer of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Cody R. Garvey, Sydney R. Cox, Joe T. Cox, Emma K. Malsom, Taylor J. Malsom, Alec R. Coomer and Elizabeth D. Coomer; great-grandchildren, Reyce C. Garvey and Brooklyn J. Nicholas Garvey; sisters, Lorene Salisbury of Ivel, Kentucky and Rose Wohlford of Manton, Kentucky; a brother, Everette Patton of Manton, Kentucky; mother-in-law, Nola Adkins; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Patton was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Berniece Ratliff, Betty Patton and Shelby Smith; and a brother, Joe Taylor Patton. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Monday, December 1, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
