Alva L. Miller

SERVICES: A private family service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Garland Brook Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Galliger, Pastor Marcus Speer, Pastor Charles C. Cash & Larry Klebenow officiating. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Christian Service Guild or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Alva L. Miller, 81, of Columbus, died at 5:26 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Alva was born June 17, 1933, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, the son of William H. and Bertha Talkington Miller Barr. He married Mary Jane Voss on October 25, 1953. He was a Korean War Veteran and retired in 1989 from Miller Oil Company. After retirement he and his wife enjoyed wintering in Texas and many years of travel. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Marsha (Bruce) Ott and Karen (Jim) Kincer both of Nineveh, IN; grandchildren, Ryan L. (Michelle) Kincer and Matthew J. Kincer; nephews, Carl L. (Karen) Miller, Robert (Deb) Barr; and four great-nieces. Alva was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark W. Miller; brother, Arthur C. Miller; sister, Alberta M. Leonard and step-brother, Jasper W. Barr.
