Alvera Hermia Blair, age 89, of Columbus, passed away at 6:46 p.m. Friday August 3, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. She was born March 18, 1929 in Whitesburg, Kentucky. Hermia had worked for several years at Bartholomew County Children’s Home from which she retired. She loved sewing, quilting, fishing and cooking. Most of all she was a loving mother and grandmother caring for her family. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday August 8, 2018 in Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Rex M. Blair, Sr. who died September 19, 2004. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Hermia is survived by her son, Jerry Blair of Columbus; her daughter, Latasha Blair of Franklin; grandchildren, Travis Blair, Rexanne Blair, Amanda Jessie and Nicholas Blair; great grandchildren, Jaynee Simpson, Ashley Blair, Thomas Blair and Otis Lee Blair. Hermia was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Danny Lee Blair, Rex Blair, Jr. and Doug Blair; a daughter, Judy Blair; a granddaughter, Angela Blair and a great grandson, T.J. Cook; brothers, James and Grant Cassell and a sister, Thula Ison.
