Ann M. Heimann
Ann M. Heimann, the beloved wife of Stephen Heimann for 46 years and daughter of Thomas E. and Patricia L. Holsworth (deceased), passed from this life on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Surviving Ann is her loving daughter, Emily VanOsdol, her son-in-law Adam, and her most precious granddaughters Nora, Maren and Lucy.
Ann experienced an extraordinary, albeit short life: President of Precision Fire and Safety, office manager for her husband's law office, and countless volunteer hours with numerous organizations. However, her family was always the utmost priority for Ann. And she had several “families.” Whether volunteering at events when her children were young or bringing together her own brothers and sisters, Ann knew the importance of connection, service and love.
Ann felt it was a privilege to be an active and supporting member of her judicial family, her church family, and of course, her Columbus community family. She was always willing to help. While she was never an official hospice volunteer, she supported many friends and families on their final journey, passing from this life to the next. Ann's dear, dear friends were like sisters and brothers to her. She loved and cared for them as much as they loved and cared for her, even when they did not see each other often. Ann had a way of making each dear friend a part of her family and ensuring they knew they were valued and treasured.
In 2020, Ann experienced the marvelous gift of combining households with her daughter's family, which gave her such great joy! For Ann, being a mother and grandmother were the best days of her life!
Ann's words of wisdom: While Ann suffered gradual and debilitating physical effects from a spinal cord tumor just below the brain stem, she discovered that that burden made her a more caring and compassionate person. Even when it felt like someone wronged her or she was disappointed by another's actions, she would come to reconcile that loss by realizing her expectations were greater than what that person could give. This realization provided Ann with a profound sense of understanding and deep peace. She learned it was easy to release any blame and find the return pathway to peaceful and loving relationships.
Ann is preceded in death by her son, Andrew.

Ann was such a comfort to me in some of the most stressful days of my life. I just reread our text messages from when Soren was born and was in the NICU, and she was so supportive. Almost every message chain for the last ten years ended with, “I’m here if you ever need to talk.” I should have taken her up on it more often. She was always a wealth of advice, a calm in the middle of my storm. I’ll always carry it with me.
I am so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you during this difficult time. My sincere condolences to you and your family. You and your family are in my prayers.

She was such a lovely lady. So strong through all the pain she was inflicted with. I’m so sorry sorry for the loss of her presence among us, but I am happy she’s with Jesus and our Father where there’s no more pain or sadness. May the Lord send showers of love and comfort to all who loved Ann.
Ann was truly one-of-a-kind and a dear friend to my parents and our family. I wish so much her life had been longer and with less suffering. Even so, she gave so much to others and leave a lasting impact on all of us. Steve, please know you are in our prayers.

What a wonderful tribute to an even more wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. You will be missed greatly Annie. Love, Tammy
We had just moved to Columbus in May 2003. I was walking to lunch with one of my work colleagues and he told me he wanted to introduce me to a lady who was approaching us. In the conversation that followed this lady, who happened to be Ann, asked me if my wife worked. This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Ann and my wife, Teresa. They lifted one another up during their trials and tribulations and enjoyed interacting with one another. I also saw a mischievous side of Ann that still brings a smile to my face.
May Ann Rest In Peace and blessings to Steve, Emily, and the rest of the family.

Ann and I shared tears and hugs as both our sons fought and lost their battles with brain cancer. An hour or less after Mac died Ann and Steve showed up at Hospice. She could feel that something had happened. It was a moment I’ll always remember. ♥️

Ann was such a warm caring person. She had a way to make you feel special and cared for as a friend. She had a deep spiritual life that would especially manifest itself in small group discussions. Ann will be surely miss in her Columbus community.

You have our deepest sympathy.
Patti’s and my deepest sympathy to Steve, Emily and family on the passing of their beloved wife, mother and relative from this world, which suffered a palpable loss of human goodness, kindness and understanding, rare traits which are so needed but seemingly so lacking in these trying times.
What is most memorable for us about Anne is that a person so good, so kind and so understanding of others at all times could also be so practical and so capable in so many ways in so many different contexts.
In that regard, the memory which will stay with Patti and me to our own dying days is the occasion back in 2002 when our then 17-year old daughter Megan became stranded late one evening by herself at LaGuardia Airport in New York while returning from a mid-summer orientation for incoming first year students at NYU. What could have become a very worrisome situation both for Megan and her parents was averted when Ann and Steve offered and arranged — literally a moment’s notice — with their son Andy — who was then living with his wife in Brooklyn — for Megan to spend the night safely and comfortably with them rather than anxious and alone in the passenger waiting area at the airport. Thanks again, Ann!
Good, kind, and understanding of others, as well as ready with practical solutions to pressing problems of all kinds, all in one person, that was Ann. May she rest in peace. . .
With abiding affection and warmest memories,
Mike Mullett and Patti March
