Audrey J. Beatty August 05, 1937 - September 04, 2009 Audrey J. Beatty, 72, of Lee Street, died at 12:05 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Beatty lived her early life in Jackson County, attending Clara D. Carter Elementary School and graduating from Shields High School. She married and moved to Columbus in 1956. She worked at Southern Transportation before going to Bartholomew County REMC, worked for Hills Department Store until it closed then helped open Ames Department Store before retiring in 1999. After retirement she worked part time in the dietary department of Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation. She also was a former employee of Columbus Behavioral Health Care and a member of Sixth Street General Baptist Church. Born in Jackson County Aug. 5, 1937, Mrs. Beatty was the daughter of Arthur E. and Edna A. Bauerle Howard. She married Billie Joe Beatty June 2, 1956. Survivors include her husband; a son, Dwight A. (Pam) Beatty Sr. of Columbus; a daughter, Teresa J. (Doug) Ross of Deputy; grandchildren, Waylon L. Beatty of Columbus, Dwight Alan Beatty Jr. of Colorado, Jennifer Anne (Chris Hatfield) Ross of Hanover, Jeremiah Keith (Brittany Jenkins) Ross and Jacob Douglas Ross, all of Deputy; a stepgrandchild, Ashley Turner of Columbus; a great-granddaughter, Amberli; and stepgreat-grandsons, Austin and Caleb A.
