Barbara Jean Monroe, 74, of 550 North, died at 2:35 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born in Las Animas, Colorado on September 6, 1937, the daughter of Leon and Nellie Willson Ayers. She married Lyman Monroe on June 5, 1955 and he survives. She is also survived by sons, Kevin (Linda) Monroe of Columbus, Todd (Cheryl) Monroe of Hope and Pat (Julie) Monroe of Nashville; a daughter, Sandra (Richard) Crawford of Columbus; grandchildren, Justin Monroe, Lyman Keegan Monroe, J.B. Monroe, Alexis Roberts and Logan Monroe Crawford; great-grandchildren, Kaiden James Monroe, Jordan Lee and Samuel Christopher Roberts; and a brother, Edward Ayers of Montrose, Colorado. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson Christopher Aaron Crawford. SERVICES: FUNERAL: Will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. VISITATION: Will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until service time. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIAL DONATIONS: May be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
