Benjamin Broughton

Benjamin “Ben” Broughton, lifelong resident of Columbus, departed peacefully May 14, 2020 to be with his Savior. Ben was born June 6, 1938 in Lincoln County, KY the son of Cecil and Clara Broughton. He is survived by his wife Carolyn of 61 years and his children Betty (Jan) Finke and Lonnie Broughton of Columbus. Ben was blessed with five grandchildren, Jennifer (Richard) Benton of Greenwood, Joshua Broughton of Edinburgh, Michelle Finke of Indianapolis, Amy Finke of Columbus, OH, and Jacob (Kelly) Broughton of Columbus. Ben has one great-granddaughter whom he adored, Emmalynn Benton of Greenwood. Ben is also survived by sister Helen (CJ) Petry, brothers Kenneth Broughton, Noah (Barb) Broughton, Charles (Betty) Broughton, and numerous nephews and nieces. Ben was preceded in death by brothers and sister-in-laws, Bob (Marie) Broughton, Lowell Broughton, Bill (Ruby) Broughton and Joyce Broughton. Ben took pride in his working career at Cosco before retiring. Ben attended Heritage Baptist Church where he enjoyed serving his Savior and would help take part anywhere he was needed. Due to the pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at Flatrock Baptist Cemetery with his brother Rev. Noah Broughton officiating and the Rev. Jeff Jones will assist. In lieu of flower, donations may be made to Heritage Baptist Church building fund.
