Betty J. Holder, 79, of Columbus, passed away at 1:48 a.m. Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility. She was born on February 9, 1941 in Blocher, IN to Clifford A. Nevils and Ethel J. Richardson Nevils. Betty married Raymond D. Holder on August 6, 1964. Betty retired as an Engineering Aide from Cummins Engine Company after 34 years of service, retiring in 2000. She was a member of New Providence Baptist Church of Austin, IN, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW, Moose, and Eagles Lodge all of Columbus, IN. She was a fan of NASCAR, IU and enjoyed volunteering at nursing homes and proudly supported our veterans and the Hemophilia Foundation for 34 years. Betty loved spending time outdoors especially with loved ones and friends. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Calling will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until service time. Entombment will take place at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum. A meal will be prepared at 1:30 p.m. for family and friends at the Eagles Lodge, 930 Washington St. Columbus, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Hemophilia of Indiana, 6910 N. Shadeland Ave. Suite 140, Indianapolis, IN 46220, Bartholomew County Humane Society, 4415 E. 200 S. Columbus, IN 47201 or donor’s choice of charity. Survivors include her adopted daughter, Rhonda Herman-Cain and her husband Steven of Columbus; companion and best friend, J.D. Muir of Columbus; nephews, Terrell (Lori) Nevils, Darrell Nevils, Bobby (Jean) Nevils; sister-in-law, Susie Nevils and her four legged feline friend, “Good Boy” Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Ethel Nevils; husband, Raymond D. Holder on May 17, 1996; brothers, Johnny W. Nevils and Lawrence E. Nevils; A special thank you to loyal friends and caregivers, Dana Bridgewater, Ellen Lewis, April Arnold, Gail Krebbs and Polly Ferguson.
