Betty Jean Stout, 84, of Elizabethtown, died at 1:34 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the emergency room of Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born in Seymour, June 20, 1927, the daughter of Roy D. and Minnie Emily Ackeret. She married Gene J. Stout June 23, 1945. Betty was previously employed at Woolen Mills in Seymour where she met her husband Gene of 66 years. She was also employed at Schneck Memorial Hospital and retired from the Elizabethtown Post Office. Mrs. Stout was a member of the Elizabethtown Christian Church and the CREAK Club. She enjoyed traveling, needle work, gardening and flowers and really loved retirement. She is survived by daughters, Karen L. Stout of Elizabethtown and Phyllis J. (Bob) Crase of Columbus; grandchildren, Karen (Tommy) Wetherald and Kristina (Bill) Bergman; great-grandchildren, Tasha (Jimmy) Rieckers, Tessa Wetherald, Ashlyn Bergman and Crase Bergman; a great-great-granddaughter, TaLynn Rieckers; and a sister, Lena Mae Kilgas of Reddington. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband on December 4, 2010. SERVICES: Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Doran Chambers officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour. VISITATION: Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. MEMORIALS: Elizabethtown Christian Church.

My coldoencences to Betty’s family! She often visited my Nanny (Edna Dean) They worked together at the wollen mill and the hospital! God bless you all and see you through this difficult time!
I am so very sorry for your loss. Loved your Mom very much. Thinking of her now, makes me smile. Just knowing Betty was a gift to all who knew her.
I am sorry to hear that Betty passed away. I was late getting home from work tonight and I found out she passed away when I read the paper. I missed the viewing and am unable to come on Tuesday. My toughts and prayers are with your family. Betty’s sense of humor will be greatly missed.
