Betty Lou Burton, 84, of Columbus, died at 10:51 a.m., on December 18, 2023, at her home.
Betty was born in Hartsville, IN on January 2, 1939, the daughter of Frederick and Pauline Heitz Burns.
Betty was employed at Cummins Engine Company. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, fishing, mushroom hunting, and playing games such as Bingo and Phase 10. She enjoyed making special dishes for her family, such as Coney Sauce and Texas sheet cake. Betty was known for saying, “I’ll make anything edible.” A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her grandchildren, Betty will be remembered as Mammaw Buddy to Paige and Kenzie. She will be greatly missed by all.
Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 11:30 on Thursday, December 21, at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home. In keeping with Betty’s wishes there will be no service. Burial will be immediately following calling hours at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Saint Jude Children’s Hospital or the Susan B. Koman Foundation.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Feller (Roger Burrows), a son, Dennis (Teresa) Burton; a sister, Clara Ziegler; grandchildren, Craig (Crystal) Feller, Tabitha (Robert) Chilton, Bethany (Kyle) Wendel, and Zach Burton; great-grandchildren, Paige and Kenzie Feller, Colton Wayne, Hunter Craig, and Koda Lynn Chilton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a loving fiancé, Bill Mace; her son, Timothy Burton; brothers, Charles, Jerry, and Bob Burns; and a sister, Patty Cooper
