VISITATION: 4:00 P.M. UNTIL 8:00 P.M. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2013 AT JEWELL-RITTMAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME BOB WILL BE TAKEN TO BECKLEY, WEST VIRGINIA FOR FINAL SERVICES Bobby "Bob" Lynn Kimberlin, a jack-of-all-trades and a master of many, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at his home. He was an ornery 66. Born October 24, 1946 in Burkes Garden, Virginia. Bob enjoyed the "good ol' days" where kids would walk 10 miles to school, uphill both ways. That was not an issue for Bob because he skipped most days of school in favor of hunting. A lifelong prankster, he could tell you some good stories. He was a true God fearing southerner and made sure to read and study his Bible every day. If Bob wasn't out breaking something on a tractor or working with a horse he could usually be found in his sewing room or wood working shop. He was the local handyman, always there to help anyone who needed a hand. Although, he thought they were a bunch of yahoos and frequently told them so, Bob loved his children with his whole heart. Kathy (Robert) Noble of Columbus, Ricky (Debbie) Kimberlin Sr. of North Carolina, Joni (Tim) Bean of Columbus, Jessica (David) Deffendall of Tennessee, James (Jessie) Kimberlin of Henryville, and Jacob Kimberlin of Nashville account for the gray hair on Bob's head. As much as he loved his kids, he was quick to let you know that he would have skipped the kids and went straight to his grandbabies if he could have. Stacy (Jake) Findley, Clint and Samantha Noble, Ricky Jr. and Jesse Kimberlin, Wyatt and Addilynn Deffendall, and Reese Bean were the light in his life. He was blessed to be able to enjoy 3 great grandchildren, Palik and Walter Findley and Adelina Noble. Bob is survived by one sister, Joyce Carlson and two brothers, Jack Kimberlin and Mike Kimberlin. One son, Micky Kimberlin, his parents Les and Ethel Kimberlin, 2 sisters and 2 brothers and his best friend and brother, Dewey Kimberlin, preceded him in death. He will also be remembered by his right hand man and fifth son, Marc Seitz and numerous other friends and loved ones. After all Bob never met a stranger.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I only met Mr. Kimberlin one time but as much as I’ve heard about him through little Ms. Addie I felt like I knew him. I still remember the look on his face when he came in with Jessica to pick Addie up from day care. He reached down and scooped her up off that cot and they both had the biggest smiles. She sure loves her paw paw and she spoke of him all the time. Praying for all of you during this difficult time.

  2. James, We are sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. It is always difficult to lose one’s that we love. The memories are very precious, and love never dies. Our thoughts are with you during this time.

  3. Kathy and family, Hugs and prayers to you and all of the family. Your Dad was one-of-a-kind. I know he will be missed by so many, but he is now at peace. He left you with lots of wonderful and happy memories. All our love, Dorothy, Noah and Eric

  4. I am sorry to hear about your loss. I am sure he is not in pain where he is. Let me know if I can help Kathy 🙂

  5. Bob will surely missed by ALL. May he find peace & happiness now that He is with the Lord. You know that he & my father will be visiting up there.

  6. What a beautiful obituary and tribute to Bob’s life. He was a true southerner and never lost touch with his roots. My fondest memories of Bob are of our growing up on Grandma and “Paws” farm. I can still see him jump on old Berthas back {our favorite horse} from behind like a true cowboy. He was a character. And will surely be missed by friends and family.

  7. I will miss my phone calls and visits with Cousin Bob. He was an inspiration to me and a great friend. I will miss him very much. I’m glad to have known him and his family. Bob has now earned his great reward.

  8. Bob was loved and will be missed by all who knew him. The family will be in our thoughts and our prayers.

  9. Love you and will miss you Uncle Bob! My thoughts and prayers are with your children and grandchildren. My Love to all.
