Brenda Kay Harden, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at the age of 79, in Columbus, Indiana. Born on February 14, 1946, in Shelbyville, Indiana, the daughter of Floyd and Lydia C. Stroup Douglas.
Brenda’s talent for Old fashioned cooking led her to open Brenda’s Diner, a place that quickly became a beloved fixture in the community in the mid to late 80’s. Her restaurant was more than just a place to eat; it was a place for friends to gather.
Beyond her cooking, Brenda was known for her love of life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid video game enthusiast, finding joy and relaxation and excited in her gaming. Brenda also cherished the tranquility of fishing, and enjoyed being outside.
Brenda was loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Micheal (Kimberly) Wheeler, of Columbus, Stuart Haines, of Bloomington, siblings, Cyrena C. (Randall) Puckett, of Louisville, Maureen A. Nolley, of Shelbyville, Mark A. (Tina) Douglas, of Columbus, Tim A. (Angela) Douglas, of Whiteland, Marcelene D. Huesman, of Columbus; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Ronald, Kenneth, Darryl, and F. Stephen Douglas.
She will be buried at a later date in Hawcreek Cemetery.
There will be no services for Brenda.
