Calvin A. Quillen, 75, of Road 700S died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born Jan. 18, 1930, at Spruce Pine, Franklin County, Ala., Mr. Quillen was the son of Tommy and Lolie Lee Thompson Quillen. He first married Marjorie Phillips of Jonesville. He married Dorothy Darnell Cooley March 21, 1975.
Mr. Quillen lived his early life in Alabama before moving to Columbus in 1951. He retired in 1995 from Cosco where he worked for 43 years.
He was an Army veteran, a member, usher and former deacon at First Christian Church and a member of Carpenters Union and enjoyed playing cards, mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening and going to country music shows at Little Nashville Opry.
He loved his grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Allen Quillen of Columbus; a stepson, G. Richard (Pru) Cooley of Columbus; grandchildren, Lisa (Matthew) Weineke of Seymour, Amy Cooley of Seymour, Sarah Cooley of Fairland, Jenifer Schrock of Greenwood and Brandon (Julie) Schrock of Plainfield; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Reid and Ryan Weineke, Kendra and Kristen Cooley and Connor and Ella Schrock; brothers, Charlie, Clayton, Raymond and Frank Quillen, all of Columbus; and a sister, Polly Yeaton of Hope.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and T.M. Quillen; and a sister, Ann Morrow.
Funeral Information
BURIAL:Burial will be at Daugherty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mr. Quillens brothers, Charlie, Clayton, Raymond and Frank Quillen; son, Jeffrey Quillen; stepson, G. Richard Cooley; and grandson, Matt Weineke.
Donations Information
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Parkinsons Awareness Association or First Christian Church.
