MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Bartholomew County Humane Society or Hickory Creek Carol June Settle, 77, of Timbercrest Drive, died at 5:57 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Hickory Creek Healthcare Center. Carol was born June 18, 1938, in Columbus, the daughter of Horace A. and Elizabeth Grider Bailey. She married Charles D. Settle June 30, 1956. Carol attended The Rock church for many years and enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. Survivors include her husband, and a daughter, Pam Settle of Edinburgh. She was preceded in death by her father, Horace Bailey; mother, Elizabeth Grider Fivecoat; brother, Ralph Bailey; and sisters, Dorothy Jones and Ruth Whittenberg.

Charles and Family so sorry for your loss. Carol and I go way back as her step father was my great uncle. Such a great loving, spiritual family she grew up in My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I had a sudden image of Carol last night. She appeared happy and with her dogs. I knew her long ago when I opened my office in Columbus in the 1980s and I haven’t lived there for over 20 years so I was surprised when I was visited by this strong clear memory. It was as if she was saying all was well with her now. So I was also surprised to learn of her passing. My condolences to Charles and family. Carol is remembered with fondness. Dr. Timothy Barr
