Carol N. Burns July 04, 1921 - March 20, 2007 Carol N. Burns, 85, of Griffa Avenue died at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mrs. Burns retired from Quality Machine & Tool Co. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, Bartholomew County Senior Center, Hoosier Schooners Camping Club and North Vernon Order of the Eastern Star No. 183. She enjoyed playing cards and was an avid bridge player. Born in Greensburg July 4, 1921, Mrs. Burns was the daughter of Frank and Izetta Sechrest Nelson. She married John F. Burns Oct. 26, 1940. Survivors include sons, Jim Burns and Greg (Jan) Burns, both of Columbus; a sister, Ruth Elliott of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 15, 2002, and her parents. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2007 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Teater officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and an Eastern Star memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
