Caroline S. Holmes May 11, 1937 - May 04, 2010 The loving hands of Jesus Christ ended the five-year battle, suffering and pain of Caroline S. (Gehring) Holmes, 72, of California Street, at 12:10 p.m. May 4, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital South in Indianapolis. Caroline was a 33-year employee of the microbiology department at Bartholomew County Hospital, retiring as a supervisor. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, shopping and spending time with her family and sisters. Born in Bedford May 11, 1937, Mrs. Holmes was the daughter of Richard and Eula Huff Gehring. She married Robert Holmes Dec. 18, 1954. Survivors include her husband; sons, Reese Holmes and Rick Holmes, both of Columbus; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn (Stan) Gratzer and Myra (Gary) Allen, both of Bedford. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jackie Gehring; and a sister, Wanda Mills. Funeral Information MEMORIAL SERVICE: 4 p.m. Sunday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev.
