The family of Carroll F. James, M.D. would sadly like to announce the passing of his life on May 7, 2012. Doctor James was born in November of 1927 in Jennings Co., IN, was a graduate of Austin High School, Austin, IN, a member of the 1950 graduating class of Hanover College, Hanover, IN and a graduate of Louisville College of Medicine in 1961. Dr. James' professional career began as a supervisory chemist with E.I. Dupont, Inc. After graduating medical school he served the communities of Wichita, KS, Hardinsburg, KY, Hope, IN and Columbus, IN as a general practicing family physician. Doctor James also proudly served his country in the U.S.A.F. as a Lt. Col. both as a flight surgeon and a base director of primary care. Dr. James is preceded in death by his mother and father Lynna and Floyd and his brother Robert. He is survived by Imogene, his wife of 63 years, his oldest son Keith and his wife Ann, his daughter Carol, his son Alan, his brother Russell and his sister Lynna. Dr. James was also the proud grandfather of 5 and the great-grandfather of 9. Dr. James enjoyed traveling, was an avid fisherman and passionately served his call to Christian service making contributions to medical missions to the nation of Haiti, teaching Sunday School and faithfully attending Parkside Baptist Church of Columbus IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkside Baptist Church Building Fund, 1780 Rocky Ford Road Columbus, IN 47203. SERVICES: 10:00 a.m. Friday May 11, 2012 at Parkside Baptist Church OFFICIATING CLERGY: Dr. William E. Bailey FINAL RESTING PLACE: Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard VISITATION: 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home

  1. Dr. James delivered my youngest child l962. He was a well thought of MD in Breck. co. My deepest sympathy to the family.

  2. I want to give my deepest condolences to all of the James’s family for the loss of there loved one.Me and Dr. James goes way back to 1970 when he becane me and my familys’s Family Doctor. He was our Doctor until he retired his practice.He always took good care of all of us. I became good friends with his daughter Carol Jean and worked for Imogene at there home in the country near Hope,In.Him and his wife kinda took me under there wing and I felt like part of the family. I always called him Dad and Imogene Mom. They always treated me like one of there own.He will be sadly missed by one and all. He is now with the lord and he is Fianlly Home… Diana Miller

  3. My prayers and thoughts are with the James family. Dr.James was a wonderful Dr. to our family. He always knew how to bring a smile to my face even when I was feeling bad. He has touched and healed many through his work and kindness. May his kindness live though the many lives he has touched.

  4. i use to hang out at there house a lot while in High School, was good friends with Carol, the trip to disney. Was a very nice man Sorry for the family lost.
