CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE:  10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home CALLING:  4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home MEMORIAL DONATIONS: Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Memorial Baptist Church  To view Charlene's memorial video, please CLICK HERE Charlene Juanita Stoneking McCue, 82, of Columbus, entered her eternal home on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.  Charlene was born on March 26, 1935, in Decatur County to Clarence and Elizabeth Stoneking.  She lived most of her life in Columbus, Indiana, and she graduated from Columbus High School in 1953.  Charlene married the love of her life, Rex McCue, on July 23, 1955.  Rex and Charlene recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. Charlene was the loving mother of Connie McCue Daugherty and Steve McCue.  Her family was very important to her and she especially loved her four grandsons, Matthew (Amanda) Lahr of Alexandria, Virginia, Andrew (Jamie) Lahr of Cypress, Texas, Jacob (Monica) McCue of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Levi (Katie) McCue of Westport.  Charlene felt blessed to have six great-grandchildren, Joey, Eliza, Helena, River, Fox, and Meadow Lahr.  She enjoyed the times when her entire family could be together. Charlene is survived by her loving husband, Rex; her daughter, Connie and son-in-law, Hugh Daugherty, of Columbus; and her son, Steve and daughter-in-law, Donna McCue, of Hope; and her four grandsons and their families.  She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Purvis, of Columbus; brother-in-law, Clyde Martin, of Columbus; niece, Patty Martin; nephews, Joe and Ben Purvis; and several cousins and other extended family. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shelby Martin. Charlene became a Christian at an early age and was a prayer warrior for her family.  She attended Bible Study Fellowship and read the Bible through four times.  Charlene was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed the friendships she shared with church members. Charlene loved to cook and she shared her talents by providing food, especially cookies, to her friends and family.  She was employed by Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in food service for 32 years where she provided homemade food, cookies, and sweet rolls.  Charlene touched many lives when she worked in the cafeterias at Central Middle School, Northside Middle School, Richards Elementary School, and Fodrea Elementary. Charlene loved God, her family, fishing, traveling, meeting the needs of others, reading the Bible, and spending time in nature.  She was a loving person who will be missed by her family and many friends. A celebration of Charlene’s life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Friends and family may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Memorials in Charlene’s name may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Memorial Baptist Church.
