Charles E. Conley
Charles E. Conley, 87, of Columbus, returned to his Heavenly Father, on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his family. Mr. Conley was born in 1938, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the late Roy and Ruth (Nutter) Conley. Mr. Conley married Helen J. (Wudarsky) on November 28, 1968, and she survives.
Chuck excelled as a student an athlete during his high school career at New Cumberland High and attended West Virginia University. The family moved to Columbus, Indiana, in 1980. He was a devoted member and choir member of East Columbus United Methodist Church. He enjoyed a successful career at ArvinMeritor as an engineer, retiring in 2003. Chuck enjoyed golf and tennis in his earlier years and, more recently, enjoyed watching westerns, as well as being an avid sports fan, cheering on the Colts, Steelers, Browns, Pacers, and the Fever. Above all, he was a family man who will be remembered by a loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Conley.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Helen; one son, Jay (Diana Rivera) Conley; brothers, Tom (Susan) Conley and Doug (Kathy) Conley; sister, Barb (Bruce) Robinson; grandchildren, Sydney (Jake) Edson; Harrison, Hayes, and Henry Rivera; great-granddaughter, Gwenyth Edson.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 10, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., in the East Columbus United Methodist Church, 2439 Indiana Ave., Columbus. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Entombment will take place in Garland Brook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church or to Love Chapel.
