Charles Edward "Chuck" Parson III October 08, 1946 - March 28, 2009 Charles Edward Chuck Parson III, 62, of Gilmore Street, Columbus, Ind., died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 11:10 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Ind. Chuck graduated from Marshall High School and received his Ph.D. from Indiana State University. He was an Army veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard, Eagles Lodge and Sons of the American Legion. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 90 in Marshall, Ill. and American Legion Post 24 in Columbus, Indiana, and a member of Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart, AMVETS and the Moose Lodge. Mr. Parson was born October 8, 1946 in Johnsonville, Ill., the son of Jack Daily and Ruth Case Daily Carney. He married Doris S. Powers May 28, 1986. Survivors include a sister, Pamela Daily of Columbus, Ind.; stepdaughters, Patricia Tasca-Wright, Mary Merrick, Wanda Perdue and Pam Winkler, all of Columbus, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Parson was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife on Sept. 29, 2007. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at the funeral home with a Moose memorial service conducted by the Columbus Moose Family Center #398 at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with calling hours also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. BURIAL: Lower Union Presbyterian Cemetery in Decatur County with military rites conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
