Charles Edward "Ed" Thorne

Charles Edward “ED” Thorne Jr., 80, of Columbus, died at 6:47 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023. Ed was born May 30, 1943, in Columbus the son of Charles Edward Thorne Sr. and Juanita Dilk Thorne Lee. Ed was a Columbus High School graduate. He worked at Aisin in Seymour, Indiana. He also worked as a body man in the automotive industry. He loved watching westerns, target shooting, guns, and metal detecting in his spare time. A loving dad and caring papaw, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The funeral will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Yeaton officiating. Calling will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2023. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Survivors include his daughters, Sherry Ann (James) Thompson of North Vernon, and Donna (Jason) Brodie of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Richard Wiltsey of Columbus, and Gary Thorne of Washington State; grandchildren, Heather (Brandon Duncan) Claycamp, Joshua (Melissa) England, Shawn Claycamp, David England, Andrew Claycamp, Savannah Claycamp, and James (Aleshia) Borup; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob and Larry Wiltsey; a granddaughter, Kristen Borup, and a great-granddaughter, Asuna Duncan.
