Charles F. Koch January 28, 1940 - March 16, 2011 Charles Francis Chuck Koch, 71, of Driftwood Avenue, died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at his home. Chuck graduated from high school in Onamia, MN, in 1958. He served four years in the Air Force and while in Berlin, Germany, met Sigrid Kerner. They were married November 30, 1963 in Fargo, ND. In 1986 he moved his family from Minnesota to Columbus, Indiana. He worked as a maintenance supervisor and then as an assembly technician, retiring in 2005. Chuck was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Greenwood. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt and garden. He was a sports fan and also liked watching westerns. He enjoyed spending time with his family, in particular outdoor activities with his children and grandchildren. Born in Wadena, MN, Jan. 28, 1940, Chuck was the son of Paul E. and Florence M. Krips Koch. Survivors include his wife; sons, Andrew P. (Sweet Dawn) Koch, Martin C. Koch, Philip S. (Christan) Koch and William M. Koch; daughters, Karen Koch (Shawn) Basham and Cheryl A. (Ricardo) Koch-Martinez; grandchildren, Max Koch Martinez and Sidney G. Basham; brothers, John M., Robert P., Paul E. Jr. and Joseph Koch; sisters, Mary Lou Hammes, Pauline Bridges and Kathleen Gielen; and a sister-in-law, Helga McCoombe. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James A. (Tony) Koch; a sister, Joan Bittenbinder; brothers-in-law, James McCoombe, LeRoy Gielen and John Hammes; and nephews, Donald and John Bittenbinder and Nicholas Gielen. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus, Indiana with Father John OConnor officiating. CALLING: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday. BURIAL: Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery with military graveside rites performed by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
