Charles L. Simpson

Charles L. Simpson, 79, of Columbus IN, died at 1:40 p.m., October 24, 2019, at his home. Charles was born November 26, 1939 in Decatur County, IN, The son of George Lillard and Pearl Elizabeth (Fields) Simpson. He married Elise Fay Eden September 14, 1958. Charles enjoyed spending time in the outdoors; hunting, fishing and gardening, he was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time with his family. Charles retired after a career of more than 50 years in the retail grocery industry. A memorial service will be held at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 3:00p.m. with Rev Chuck Kennedy officiating. Calling will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice of charities. Survivors include son: Charles Bryant (Wendy Marie) Simpson, daughter: Glenda Kay Aikins, brother Jimmie Simpson, sisters: Alice Sechrest, Jearl Dean Latham, Julia McPherson, Marilyn Stidgon, Kathleen (Jeff) Kupiec, grandchildren: Andrea Wallace, Traci (Chris) Harris, Heather Vanders, Lindsey Stathan, Charles Michael Simpson, Christopher Bryant Simpson, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Plus, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Art Simpson and sister: Ruby Simpson.
