Military honors will be performed by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Charles was born Feb. 13, 1938, in Kentucky, the son of Charles J. and Elsie Hardin McCarty. He married Kathleen King on Oct. 19, 1962. Charles enjoyed collecting diecast cars and working on vehicles of all types, but he especially loved to fish. Survivors include wife; son, Delbert Lee (Janita) McCarty of Columbus; grandchildren, Matthew Craig McCarty and Vanessa Dawn McCarty; and great-granddaughters, Sariah Lynn McCarty and Maddison Grace McCarty. He was preceded in death by his parents; as well as a brother, Johnny McCarty.
