Charles McFarlane March 23, 1936 - April 18, 2008 Charles E. McFarlane Sr., 71, of Jonesville, Ind. died at 10:36 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2008, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Charles retired from Stadlers Packing Co. after 25 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Medic, serving in Germany. He loved mushroom hunting, as well as spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. McFarlane was born April 23, 1936, in Lebanon, Va., the son of Tyler and Nettie Warner McFarlane Sr. He married Mary Lacefield Sept. 26, 1957. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lacefield McFarlane; sons, Charles (Audrey) McFarlane Jr. of Jonesville, Ind. and David Wayne (Vicki) McFarlane of Columbus, Ind.; a daughter, Shirl (Robert) Shepherd of Columbus, Ind.; grandchildren, Shelby and Whitney Shepherd, Jason, Jamie, Jamison, Arthur, Leslie and Misty McFarlane; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Mickey (Mary) McFarlane of Columbus, Ind.; and sisters, Judy (Jerry) Reeves of Columbus, Ind. and Mary Belle Guthrie of Bartholomew County, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and four sisters. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Virl Murray officiating. VISITATION: April 21, 2008, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services. A military graveside service will be conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard. BURIAL: Daugherty Cemetery in Bartholomew County, Indiana.
