Wednesday at the funeral home Charlie S. "Chuck" Luurtsema Jr., 68, of Hartsville, died at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013. Chuck was a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and loved trapshooting. He was retired operations manager of Edinburgh Premium Outlet. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Rasmussen officiating. Calling will be from 5 p.m. until service time Wednesday. Born in Mooresville April 16, 1945, Chuck was the son of Charlie S. Luurtsema Sr. and Lilly Atkins Luurtsema. He married Shari Broyles July 25, 1985. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Tiffanie J. (Keith) Ellis of Greenwood, IN, Theresa Hill of South Bend, IN, and JoAnne (Michael) Lynch of Wirtz, VA; sons, Charlie S. (DeAnne) Luurtsema III of Adamsville, Tenn., and Kenneth (Kristina) Luurtsema of South Bend, IN; a stepson, Rick (Leslie) Mitchell of Mooresville, IN; grandchildren, Connor and Logan Ellis of Greenwood, IN, Christine (Reid) Johnson of Warsaw, IN, and Gage O'Brien of Mishawaka, IN; a brother, Jim (Rhonda) Luurtsema of Elwood, IN; and a sister, Melissa Cowan of Rushville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
