Clarice Saint Bass, 86, passed away early January 7, 2012 at her son's home in Hudson, Ohio. Clarice was born September 26, 1925 in Hilly, Louisiana to Homie Lee and Jack Saint. After graduation from high school, Clarice moved to Shreveport to attend business school where she met her future husband, John Bass, who was stationed at Barksdale Field. John and Clarice married on April 16, 1945. They moved to Columbus in 1950. Clarice worked at Columbus Regional Hospital for 20 years and then in retail until retirement. Clarice was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was involved in Rachel's Circle. Clarice was a "people person," who loved spending time with her many friends and family. Clarice is survived by two sons, Donald (Barbara) Bass of Springfield, Virginia, and William (Janice) Bass of Hudson, Ohio; grandchildren, Brett (Sarah) Bass, Brian (Beth) Bass, Rebecca (Bobby) Howell, Kim Mahoney, Eric (Harmony) Bass, Brandon (Carrie) Bass, Brittany (Jason) Bucur; and 12 great-grandchildren. Clarice is also survived by two sisters, Yvonne Colvin of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Sarah Jean Hughes of Kilgore, Texas; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Morgan of Houston, Texas, and Marian Hobbs of Shelbyville; and her honorary son and neighbor, Neal Dean. Clarice is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sons, Harry Bass and James Bass. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Blystone and Paul Johnson officiating. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church.
