Ronnie Hampton FINAL RESTING PLACE: Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery VISITATION: 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Alzheimer's Association Claude Scoggan, 94, N. Birchwood St., died June 12, 2014, at his home. Claude was born December 22, 1919 in Bedford, the son of Lew Wallace and Celia Kathryn Tolliver Scoggan. He married Doris M. Todd Scoggan on March 3, 1946. Claude was a member of Lowell General Baptist Church and loved to garden. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II, and retired from Hamilton Cosco after 35 years of service. The funeral will be on Tuesday June 17, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Lowell General Baptist Church with the Revs. Glenn Poynter and Ronnie Hampton officiating. Calling will be Monday June 16, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Flatrock Baptist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Survivors include his sons Douglas (Denise) Scoggan & Harold (Jo) Scoggan both of Columbus; a daughter Diana (Jerry) Lee of Columbus; grandchildren Melissa (David) Jessie, Amy (Doug) Biddinger, Jason Wilson, Angela (Roger) Barr, Anna Reavis; great-grandchildren Gavin, Emilee, Isabelle, Nathan, Isaac, Abigail, Brianna, Makayla, Gabby, Justin, and Jaidyn; brothers Kenny (Sue) Scoggan of Bedford, P.W. "Bill" (Juanita) Scoggan of Bedford, Jerry (Linda) Scoggan of Orleans, Indiana, and John (Terri) Scoggan of Bedford; sisters Betty Knight and Shirley Fish both of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his his wife Doris M. Todd Scoggan on August 1, 2011, a daughter Sharon Whited, his parents, and a brother Wayne Tolliver.
