MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 19, 2013 at FairLawn Presbyterian Church MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS: Alzheimer's Association or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Cliff Currie, 90, of Taylor Road Columbus, IN passed away Friday January 11, 2013 at Four Seasons Retirement Center. Cliff was born July 21, 1922 in Belfast, Northern Ireland to the late Samuel and Margaret (Wray) Currie. Cliff served in the British Royal Navy during World War II and graduated from Belfast Technical College with a degree in engineering. He did his apprenticeship at Harland and Wolfe Shipbuilders who were the builders of the Titanic. Cliff's grandfather had worked for the same company building the Titanic. Cliff, Maureen and two of their daughters immigrated to Canada. Three years later, they moved to Connersville and eventually re-located to Columbus in 1963. He retired from the international division of Cummins Engine Company in 1986 after 23 years of service. He was a member and past elder of the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine engineers. Cliff is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maureen (Clark) Currie whom he married September 1, 1945 in Belfast. Also surviving are 3 daughters and their spouses, Linda (Stan) Murray of Noblesville; June (Denny) Poulsen of North Ridge, CA and Robin (Greg) George of Hope, a brother, Ivan Currie of South Africa; 5 grandchildren, Shelby George; Sean (Rena) Murray; Christopher Murray; Ryan (Hayley) Murray; Heather George and 8 great-grandchildren. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lester Currie.

  2. I enjoyed having Maureen and Cliff as neighbors on Fox Pointe Drive. I will never, ever forget Cliff’s explanation of planting flowers “hairy side down!” What a sense of humor…and what a lovely fellow. Maureen and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

  3. I was so sorry to read of Cliff’s passing, he will be missed but his memory will live on. My thoughts and prayers are with Maureen and the whole family. I know what it is to lose a life partner.
