Dale Junior Hampton April 05, 1942 - January 19, 2011 Dale Junior Hampton, 68, of Crescent Way, died at 7:52 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Dale graduated from Columbus High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army and retired in 2002 from Cummins after 40 years of service. He was a member of New Life Community Church in Nashville. Dale enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and spending time with family and friends. Dale was born April 5, 1942 in Whitesburg, Kentucky, the son of Dewey and Bonnie Caudill Hampton. He married Patricia J. Sterling Aug. 22, 1969. She survives. Survivors include sons, Gary Dale (Lisa) Hampton and Gary Lynn Hampton, both of Columbus; a daughter, Sherry (Derek) Whitehead of Columbus; grandchildren, Liza Blandford, Katelyn Barton, Carson Whitehead, Reece Whitehead, Justin Hampton, Lindsay Hampton, Sydney Hampton, Jason Hampton and Candice Nentrup; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jaydalynn Hampton; brothers, Darrell (Becky) Hampton of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Ronnie (Judy) Hampton of Columbus; and sisters, Betty (Richard) Dodd of Taylorsville, Rosa Deal of Indianapolis and Brenda (Steve) Forgey of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Herbert and Bill Hampton and sisters, Jean Hardin and Zamilee Banta. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 1 p.m. Monday, January 24, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Ronnie Hampton officiating. CALLING: 11 a.m. until service time. BURIAL: Old Union Church of Christ Cemetery in Edinburgh.
