Dalton Lee Hoover July 06, 1926 - April 24, 2008 Dalton Lee Hoover, 81, of Illinois Street died at 11:32 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Hoover served in the U.S. Army from October 1944 to November 1945 and fought in the battle for Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen Germany during World War II. He re-enlisted in November 1945 and served with the 10th Infantry at Camp Campbell, Ky., and, as leader of a mortar section, was responsible for the training of approximately 16 men. He was discharged as a sergeant in 1946 at Fort Bragg, N.C. He worked with his brother Ron in construction for 29 years and was an avid baseball and NASCAR fan. Born in Ohio County, Ky., July 6, 1926, Mr. Hoover was the son of Archie D. and Della Mae Bartlett Hoover. He married Judy Dell ONeal Dec. 15, 1979. Survivors include brothers, Ron Hoover of Clifford, Bob Hoover of Columbus and Jay Hoover of Jackson, Miss.; sisters, Rae Brooks of Indianapolis and Jean Luttrell of Princeton, Ky.; stepdaughters, Margo Percifield and Janell Kay Fox, both of Brown County, and Cindy Lee Clemons of Spencer; several stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 28, 2002; and his parents. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Monday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. VISITATION: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday. BURIAL: Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery and military graveside rites will be conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
