Darryl Gene Hooten

Darryl Gene Hooten, 64, of Columbus, passed away peacefully with his siter and brother by his side at 6:47 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Darryl was born in Greensburg, IN on August 15, 1956 to Loren Gene Hooten and Sharon Louise Hurst Hooten. Darryl was a child of Jesus. He loved to sing his two favorite songs, “Jesus Loves Me” and “Happy Birthday”. He enjoyed playing cards, doing arithmetic, going for car rides, he especially loved Pepsi Cola and M&M’s. He had a smile that would light up a room. There will be no services, cremation is planned. Darryl is survived by a brother, Loren Ja Hooten of Columbus; a sister, Gena Lynn Beaman of Fort Wayne, IN; a niece, Jeni Spires; nephews, Jesse Beaman, Jake Beaman, Ethan Cole Hooten and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents Loren Gene Hooten and Sharon Louise Hooten. Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell ~ Rittman Family Funeral Home. Gena and Ja would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. The care and comfort they provided was way beyond anything we’ve ever seen. They’re true angels from above.
