Eckert, 38, of Columbus, died at 10:37 a.m. June 18, 2018, at his home. David was born December 17, 1979, the son of Calvin Ray and Helen Ann Biles Eckert. He was employed as a machinist at Valeo in Seymour and attended Lakeview Church of Christ. For the past couple of years, David has enjoyed raising cattle and attending music concerts with his friends. After David’s mother passed away, he provided sole support for his father. He was a loving son and loved spending time with his father. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Minister Dwayne Gandy officiating. Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at New Harmony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or National Kidney Foundation. Survivors include his father, Calvin of Columbus along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother; and grandparents, Clarence and Pearl Biles, as well as Betty and Ernest Eckert.

  11. Davey always made me laugh when we were kids. I dont know what is so funny about old car honking sounds but it was really funny as a kid. I am sorry to hear of his loss and Im praying for comfort for Calvin.

I know you’d understand why, we actually just got done talking about it over dinner a little over a week ago, but it still doesn’t feel right. A piece of my heart died when you left us.
