Debbie Sue Pickett, 62, of Marion, Indiana, and formerly of Columbus, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, at her home. She was born in Columbus on April 9, 1961, the daughter of James Wesley Pickett and Frances Gertrude (Hagan) Pickett.
Debbie enjoyed making jewelry and keeping in touch with family and friends. She was always there to help anyone in need. She was an outdoor person who enjoyed swimming and fishing.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2023, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Chris Rutan officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday until the service at 1:00 p.m. Debbie grieved the tragic loss of her son Travis and a special remembrance will be held in conjunction with Debbie’s service.
Memorial contributions in memory of Debbie may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society through the funeral home.
Debbie is survived by her daughter, Kristi (partner, Brittany) Cross; her partner, Beth Coffelt; brothers, James (Wanda) Pickett, Mitch (Linda) Pickett and a sister, Sharon (Pat) Chandler. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Travis Wayne Pickett; sister, Frances Marie Butler, and her former husband and friend, Danny Wayne Cross.
