SERVICES: Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Talent officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or the American Kidney Fund. Dennis Vincent Prior Sr., 71, of California Street, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2013, at the Yellow Rose Wing of I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Columbus, October 9, 1941, the son of the late Howard Prior and Elvessa Violet Van Blariricum Clason. He married Marcia Kay Russell on June 11, 1972, and she survives. Dennis, a U.S. Navy veteran, served his country as a Master Welder, Aviation Mechanic, and Maintenance Crew Team Member for the Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron. Dennis was employed by Cummins Engine Company for 46 and a half years, retiring on June 30, 2009. He enjoyed many activities with his family. Dennis' woodworking talents were used often to make toys for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, oil painting, reading, researching information on the internet, camping, as well as feeding and watching birds. Dennis was an avid collector of many things; teddy bears were his favorite. The Prior family would like to extend a warm thank you to Jan Sitterding, RN, for the care she provided Dennis during his illness. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by sons, Dennis Vincent (Stacy) Prior Jr., Keith Allen (Lynsey) Prior and William Russell (Kristi) Prior, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Kendall Loren Prior, Keith Allen Prior Jr., Blaize Dean Metz and Talyah Katherine Metz; a brother, David (Sue) Clason of Columbus; and sisters, Lovel Blake of Hope, and Sharon Smith of Columbus. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Robert William Russell Sr., brother-in-law Robert William Russell Jr., and a nephew Cliff Blake.

Uncle Denny you are now an beautiful Angel up above with my father. I am sure you are both looking down watching from above. I love you and will miss you.
