Dixie M. Yeley, 71, of Wehmeier Street, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at 9:45 p.m. at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Care Facility. Born May 29, 1940, in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Forrest Eddelman and Florine L. Stader Eddelman. She married Eddie Yeley Sept. 15, 1962. Dixie graduated from Columbus High School and attended Cincinnati Bible College. She was the secretary for 33 years at East Columbus Christian Church, where she was a member, sang in the choir and was active in various church small groups. Dixie enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds, Indiana University sports and the Indianapolis Colts. Mostly, however, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by Craig A. (Cathy) Yeley of Columbus; Steven R. Yeley of Columbus; Sharilyn G. (Jody) Wendel of Columbus; grandchildren Jessica, Miranda, Dylan, Drew & Ethan Yeley; Sydney and Avery Wendel. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Michael W. Yeley; brothers, William and Robert Eddelman; and sister, Betty Lawson. SERVICES: FUNERAL: 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bridgewater and the Rev. Mike Gillespie officiating. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2011 and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery. MEMORIAL DONATIONS: May be made to the Cancer Center at Columbus Regional Hospital, Hospice of South Central Indiana and East Columbus Christian Church.

Dixie and I were in Junior High and High School together in the class of 1958. Dixie was always such a pleasure to be around. It was always a pleasure to run into her from time to time. She will be sadly missed by all. My thoughts and prayers go to you her family.

Thanks for the memories, Dixie! You were always one of my classmates that my mother, Reva Whittington Hawk, invited to my primary grade birthday parties. You were always so gracious, kind, sweet, and caring. I have always remembered you as a CHS Rose among many classmate thorns like me!
