Donald Dale "Chief" Sanders June 16, 1952 - August 09, 2009 Donald D. Chief Sanders, 57, of Russell Springs, Ky., formerly of Elizabethtown, Ind., died at 10:11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at Russell Springs. Mr. Sanders had been employed by Columbus Parks and Recreation Department and when he was younger was a firefighter with the Elizabethtown Volunteer Fire Department. He loved fishing. Born in Greensburg, Ind., June 16, 1952, Mr. Sanders was the son of William T. and Flossie Sanders. He is survived by his mother, of Russell Springs; brothers, Bill D. Sanders of Columbus, Michael E. Sanders of Elizabethtown and Carl W. (Cheryl) Sanders of Elizabethtown; sisters, Carolyn S. (George) Brown of Columbia, Kentucky; Lois G. (Leon) Lewis of Titusville, Florida; Barbara L. Hilton of Columbia, Kentucky; Sherry L. Sanders of Columbus, Indiana; 28 nieces and nephews; and 31 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Ray Gordon Sanders; and two nephews. Funeral Information FUNERAL: 10 a.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Connie K. Barr officiating. VISITATION: 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday. BURIAL: Garland Brook Cemetery.
