Donald Frank Lucas

Donald Lucas, 84, of Columbus, passed away at 5:42 p.m. May 10, 2018, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. He was born May 23, 1933, in Honeytown, Indiana, the son of the late Clarence Morris and Thelma Irene Oathout Lucas. He married Delphia Mae Chambers September 13, 1953. Don was employed as a tool and die maker by Hartup Tool and Die in 1951. He worked in other shops during his career before returning to Hartup Tool and Die and finally retiring in 1998. Don enjoyed horseback and motorcycle riding in his younger years. After his retirement he enjoyed many hours working in the yard with his wife. He attended Calvary Nazarene Church and enjoyed being a part of the church family. He was a good provider, a hard-working family man who loved God and his family. Don was much loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Blair officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. (noon) until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Nazarene Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Donald is survived by his wife, Delphia; daughters, Debra R. Bluebaum and Donna L. (Steve) McCue, both of Columbus, and Dee Ann (John) Bridgewater of Rosette, Wyoming; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Jean Frieders; and brothers, Clarence Morris Lucas Jr., Robert Gayle Lucas, and Gerald Dean (Chad) Lucas.
