To the family of Mrs. Dorothy Jessie,my heart is heavy right now. Mrs. Dorothy was very good friend of mine. We worked together at Prestolite Wire for many years together, she will be truly missed.

Dorothy Jean Jessie, 69, of Tifton, Georgia, died at 5:15 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 at Tift Regional Medical Center. She was born in Fort Scott, Kansas, October 24, 1941, the daughter of Otto James and Louise McReynolds Womelsdorf. Dorothy attended Brookfield Baptist Church in Tifton and was previously employed at Skooter's Restaurant. She and her husband were owners and operators of their own semi truck and they traveled across the country in it. She retired from Prestolite Wire Company in Tifton. Dorothy loved antique cars, car shows and riding motorcycles and she loved her poodles, Bandit and Shorty. She also enjoyed working with her husband in the yard and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert T. "Bob" Jessie; a stepdaughter, Vivian (Ron) Rice of Scipio; step-grandchildren, Ronald A. Rice; and a step-great-granddaughter, Paige Rice; brothers, James Womelsdorf of Iola, Kansas, Tommy Womelsdorf of New Mexico and Kevin Womelsdorf of Iola, Kansas; sisters, Ruth Bankert of Ovida, Fla., Colleen Burton of Columbus and Ethelena Small of Chanute, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Rosalee Womelsdorf. FUNERAL: Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Homer Whited officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
