Dorothy R. Quillen March 01, 1928 - October 31, 2008 Dorothy R. Cooley Quillen, 80, of Road 700S, Columbus, Indiana, died Friday, October 31, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at her home. Mrs. Quillen lived her entire life in Bartholomew County and was a member of First Christian Church. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years and was employed in the Bartholomew County Clerks office for several years before working at Family and Childrens services. She enjoyed playing cards, mushroom hunting, fishing, gardening and going to country music shows at the Little Nashville Opry. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Quillen was born March 1, 1928, the daughter of James W. Darnell and Sarah Butler Jackson. She was first married to George Wesley Cooley and later married Calvin Anderson Quillen on March 21, 1975. Survivors include a son, G. Richard (Pru) Cooley of Columbus; a stepson, Jeffrey Allen Quillen of Columbus, Indiana; grandchildren, Lisa (Matthew) Wieneke and Amy Cooley, both of Seymour, Indiana, Sarah Cooley of Fairland, Indiana, Jenifer (Dan) Smith of Greenwood, Indiana and Brandon (Julie) Schrock of Plainfield, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Reid and Ryan Wieneke, Kendra and Kristen Cooley, Connor and Ella Schrock and William Smith. Mrs. Quillen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin Quillen, on August 25, 2005; a brother, James Darnell; a half-brother, Jerry Jackson; and a half-sister, Phyllis Simpson. Funeral Information FUNERAL: Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, with remarks by Milo Smith. VISITATION: Tuesday, November 4, 2008, from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. BURIAL: Daugherty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Allen Quillen, James Darnell Jr., Brian Darnell, Brandon Schrock, Dan Smith, Matt Wieneke, Richard Cooley and Jason Blagrave.
