Dorothy S. Burriss November 09, 1931 - March 12, 2008 Dorothy S. Dottie Burriss passed away Wednesday March 12, 2008, at her home. Mrs. Burriss retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1987 after 17 years of service. She had previously worked at Lawson & Jewell Attorney at Law and Smart and Johnson Abstract Company. Dottie was a lifelong member of Parlor Grove Baptist Church. She was loved by all who knew her and touched the hearts of many during her 76 years. She had an artists eye for appreciating the hidden beauty, loved dancing and singing and was a natural born musician. Do not grieve for her, for the angels rejoice in Heaven and the beautiful voice of Dottie can be heard singing harmony with them. Born in Lincoln County, Kentucky on November 9, 1931, she was the daughter of Raymond Sanders Sr. and Lula Belle Oaks Sanders. She married William I. Burriss on December 24, 1951. Mrs. Burriss is survived by sons, Gary E. (Martha) Burriss and Gregory K. Burriss both of Columbus and Douglas E. Burriss of Del Ray Beach, Florida; a daughter, Janice K. Burriss of Columbus; grandchildren, Caleb, Sara and Jana Burriss, Eric and Dustin Burriss, Amanda Burriss and Jamie Marie Collier; a brother, Raymond (Cathy) Sanders Jr. of Versailles; sisters, Mrs. Lillian (Dallas) Jacobs of Waynesburg, Kentucky and Mrs. Louellen (George) Gaebes of Seymour. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; her parents; and sisters, Christine Bessie Sanders and Mary Jewel (Fred) Lay. Funeral Information Burial and graveside services for the family will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery Monday, March 17, 2008.
